Extract of sample "Group Work in the Classroom"

A group consists of two or more people who have come together with the same interests to accomplish a certain goal (Terrence, 2001). As a requirement by the lecturer we formed groups, came up with a critical question, discussed it, and prepared a presentation which enabled us to gain communication, presentation, and teamwork skills. As a team member in my group, I was totally devoted and made diligent contributions to ensure triumph.

First, we suggested the query to be discussed and I actively participated in evaluating it. Additionally, I played a part in searching for up-to-date information which guided us in finding solutions to the query along with supportive facts which aided our oral presentation. I scrutinized various journals, publications, and other supportive literature which greatly augmented audience engagement. Each person is gifted in his/her own way; each individual shared their ideas and later the group conferred them out to come up with a way out.

The group work could not have gained victory if there was no cohesiveness (Carron 2000). All the members shared fully; each team member put on view all they could. Time was saved as tasks were divided hence specialization and increased motivation (John, 2011). The quality of the final presentation was great as every group member was well acquainted with the question we were handling, so we answered queries accurately; thorough assessment of the chosen literature and use of visual material and modern technologies.

I also learned how to manage an on-the-go suggestion with resources available so as to accomplish the preferred outcome. Due to every member participating in the final presentation, I gained superior communication skills; therefore each felt a sense of belongingness hence team work was promoted in class. I also appreciated record-keeping in group work for easier referencing.

In the end, it was evident to support my claims of participation. My group had committed and proficient team members. This was as a result of the interactive discussions I initiated during the break times thus we were able to reach outstanding and timely facts which drew the attention of the entire audience.
