The basis for the discussion comprises two articles from online sources.

The political system of Libya
In the article “Libya is Bigger for EU than for US” published by European Affairs on the official website of the European Institute, “the revolt in Libya differs radically from the recent regime changes in neighboring Egypt” (Libya). The author considers that Libya has the largest degree of violence and transatlantic challenges. The Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi is described as a ‘mad dog’, but still USA and EU have economic or business affairs with this country. If America tried to fight against the Libyan repressive regime, the EU would have already established certain economic concerns.

At first European countries and America neglected the oppression of Libyans' human rights, but currently, the main political issues of cooperation with Libya are solved and the world’s society is making an attempt to pacify a bloodbath. Oppressions of Gaddafi and military forces directed at civilians are severely criticized in the modern world. Therefore it is relevant to establish a new regime in Libya and not to ‘squeeze’ the current repressive process. An intricate tribal clans representing the political system of Libya, mercenaries instead of a national army the authors consider to be inevitable triggers of a bloody transition (Libya).

With this regard, the main idea expressed in this article is a description of violent moods in Libya, which combined with the extraordinary political system makes this country “pose more problems for the West as a whole than anything foreseeable in the political earthquake shaking every regime across the whole Arab world from North Africa to the Levant, and even in the Gulf States around Saudi Arabia” (Libya).

Further on the article deals with considerations of potential risks for Europe and America. The main impact on Europe is seen in the oil output of Libya and the oil supply of the EU. Migration to European countries, especially to Italy is another challenge caused by the current turmoil in Libya. Unlike Europe, America tried to pacify terroristic moods in this country and attempted to fight against it by military attacks in 1984. Thus the political leader of Libya is scared off by America, but Europe is at the starting point of conflicts with Libya. Consequently, on the background of challenging international relations with Libya, social turmoil is shown. Libyans do not want to be “rooted in tribalism which Gaddafi carefully preserved and nurtured as part of his technique of divide-and-rule in Libya” (Libya). Thus Libya is in a more unstable position than Egypt, where military force is the basic pillar of the country.

The political system of Egypt
In the article “Egypt and the Middle East: Revolution or Evolution?” the political system of Egypt is also described on the background of current turmoil events. The repressive regime of Egypt made this nation to fight against the repressive regime and to protest against ‘fake’ elections. The Egyptian nation has been tired of oppression and tyranny. This revolt is a sign of the nation’s evolution from scared-off social subjects to individuals striving for independence and democracy. Egyptians want “freedom and justice for every Egyptian” (Egypt). The main emphasis of this article is on the potential struggle of ME against the high-speed development of China and India. The author suggests attempting to fight for the development of the country. Therefore there are directly expressed democratic moods in this article.

Conclusion
On the example of turmoil in Libya and Egypt, the given work evaluated the current political situation in the countries, compared and contrasted them, and evaluated possible outcomes of revolts in the future. The basis for the discussion comprises two articles from online sources. Unlike Libyans, it is seen that Egyptians believe in their nation and its prosperity in case a democratic leader would rule the country. The author clearly shows the attempts of Egyptians to fight against the repressive regime of their political leader Mubarak. The manner of writing in the article about Egypt is more appealing to the reader. It is well understandable that the main goal of the author is to show a fight for democracy in a vivid manner. The same tendency, I mean the upheaval among Egyptians, is present in the current revolt. Despite crucial fights in both countries, civilians have more chances to express their moods in Egypt than in Libya. The article about Libya is written more pragmatically and directly. The parallels may be drawn between a more rigid form of opposition of Libyans and the manner of the author’s writing.

Therefore on the background of turbulent political events, a fight against oppression and for democracy is shown in the example of Libya and Egypt. Such kind of social unrest is the outcome of improper regulations in the international arena and non-existent corruption. In case these two roots of evil are eradicated, there is a hope to establish Read More
