Thomas Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Thomas Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Legislative issues are part of the study or practice of the dissemination of force and assets of a given group and additionally the interrelationship(s) between groups. A political framework is a skeleton, which characterizes worthy political techniques inside a given society. The historical background of legislative issues is reflected in the cause, advancement, and trading and lending of the foundations of government. The source of the state is to be found in the promotion of the craft of fighting. Historically speaking, all political groups of the advanced sort owe their presence to fruitful fighting. In this paper, a compare and contrast discussion of two presidents is made. The two presidents are Thomas Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The two presidents have some similarities and differences. Thomas Jefferson was the third president of United States from 1801 to 1809. One of his great accomplishments was laying the foundation of the University of Virginia (Takagi & Gordon-Reed, 1999). He was the principle author of Declaration of Independence. He was a statesman, planter, and lawyer professionally. The father of this well-known president was a planter, and his mother belongs to a Virginia’s most distinguish ancestors. As public official, historian, theorist, and farm owner, he served his state for more than fifteen years. His death was reported on July 4, 1826 (Takagi & Gordon-Reed, 1999). Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd United States president (January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945) (Freedman, 1990). He was a well-known democratic political leader and famous statesman. He belonged to one of the oldest and distinguished families of New York. His parents were cousins, and both belong to a wealthy family. As a president, he served his state for twelve years and was the only president to be elected four times. His death was reported at the age of 63 (Freedman, 1990). Jefferson started his academic career as an instructor at Tuckahoe along with the Randolph children (Cogliano, 2008). In his early life, he began to study Latin, Greek, and French; he became skilled to ride horses, and he was also attracted towards nature. Later, he studied history, science, and the classics. At age 16, Jefferson enrolled in the college where he study law, mathematics, metaphysics, and philosophy (Cogliano, 2008). He was a hard-working student and showed curiosity in all his fields and graduated in 1762. Franklin Delano Roosevelt began his education at Groton School, where his professor who used to teach the obligation of Christianity influenced him. He was an average student academically. He studied economics at Harvard College (Freedman, 1990). While ordinary as a student, he was appointed as an editor-in-chief of The Harvard Crimson daily newspaper, a designation of great passion, high objective and capability to administer. In 1904, he enrolled in Columbia Law School and completed his New York State Bar exam and earned a degree of doctorate, Juris Doctor (J.D.). Jefferson got marry to his relative, Martha Wayles Skelton, on January 1, 1772. She was a 23-year-old widow. Her mother was died at a young age, and she lived with her stepmother. Maratha Jefferson was beautiful, sociable, and well liked among their companions and managed her family very well (Takagi & Gordon-Reed, 1999). During their marriage life, they produced six children. They had a happy married life, and it was the happiest era of Jefferson’s life. Later on, Maratha became ill and suffered from diabetes (Cogliano, 2008). Following her disease, she died at the age of thirteen on September 6, 1782. Shortly after her death, she begged and took a promise from her husband not to marry again. It was a dreadful event for Jefferson; he shut himself in his room for few weeks to mourn for his wife. Eventually, he recovered and got back to his political life (Takagi & Gordon-Reed, 1999). Franklin Delano Roosevelt was married to Anna Eleanor at the age of 23 (Freedman, 1990). Eleanor was elected official, diplomat and campaigner. She had a sorrowful childhood; lost her both parents by age 10. Later on, the young pair shifted to Springwood estate in Hyde Park, New York, USA (Freedman, 1990). In their marriage life, she gave birth to six children. Their marriage life was controversial as FDR had outside affairs his marriage and it impact on their matrimony relationship. Eleanor established a home and started to live separate in Hyde Park at Val-Kil and engage herself in different political and social activities (Freedman, 1990). With an eye on governmental issues, Jefferson was attracted to the lawful calling, where he succeeded in the direction of George Wythe (Cogliano, 2008). In time, Jefferson created himself as an issue in Williamsburg, which prompted his decision to the House of Burgesses in 1769. Many achievements in the House of Burgesses led him to the nomination of the second congress at Philadelphia, where he was the second little in turn out. In the period of governorship, he suffered greatly in the revolutionary war. He left to care his sick wife in 1781, which died in the subsequent year. It was a dreadful event for him but eventually he get back to his political life (Takagi & Gordon-Reed, 1999). The spell of his governorship was followed by five-year tenure as minister to France. In Paris, he was engaged in several conferences and discussions and was hopeful to win diplomatic privileges among several powers of United States but it was highly unproductive for him. It was seemingly disturbing for him as a passionate politician who wanted to win diplomatic privileges. As a matter of fact, he brought a number of changes in his plan. In 1802, Jefferson had organized the buy of the city of New Orleans and contiguous waterfront ranges. Napoleon I offered to provide the whole region 15 million dollars. The only difference was that he became a Vice President. In next elections, he again faced John Adams, but this time, Jefferson was victorious. During his government, he weathered many storms During Jeffersons two terms as the President, he weathered a few storms including an embarrassment involving him and his implied particular slave lady, Sally Heming. Moreover, he faced few withdrawal activities by both northern and southern groups, clashes with an aggressive legal wing headed by Chief Justice John Marshall, and European wars that engaged Americans at home and abroad with extreme risks (Cogliano, 2008). By the time, he was about the graduate from the University of Colombia he had decided to pursue his career as a judicial clerk that was the gateway for Franklin in the field of politics. His eagerness and dedication in the field exposed his potential capabilities and skills that were firstly noted by John Mack, who provided him the first opportunity to participate in, assemble (Freedman, 1990). Roosevelt held the administration from 1934-1945, heading the United States through the Great Depression and World War II. His administrative system, the New Deal, extraordinarily extended the part of the central government in American culture. Roosevelt inherited his brave and courageous nature from his ancestors. He dared to oppose the ruling leader of that time that was involved in different illegal issues and was not liked by the people. Roosevelt stood against this dishonest ruling power, and this step catches the attention of people. His sincere efforts and great leadership qualities made him a central point in the political world (Freedman, 1990). Both leaders had different ideas during their periods of presidency. The people did not always approve both presidents’ beliefs. Populace sometimes disagrees with their thoughts.
