A project is carried out to attain a common task that needs apposite management and administration (Pinkerton). Project management Project management looks for to predict and deal with doubts that intimidate the objectives and schedule of a project. The risks can encompass problems of parts, quality, and material; stoppages in delivery of passable resources to set up project requirements; budgetary and workers transforms; and, imperfect research or knowledge of the project manager. These risks guide quickly to holdup in release dates and financial plan overages that be able to harshly weaken assurance in the development and in the project manager (Martin et al, 2004). The role of the project manager There are lots of risk those are attached to the project development and cause a serious problem for the better management and administration of the project. These risks are also the main cause for the breakdown of the most of the projects. From project management viewpoints, project managers have to find out the most recent insights, methods, and developments in project management field. This will provide him a better understanding regarding the efficient project management and solutions for emerging risks (Johnson et al, 2005). Good qualities of project risk judgment. If a project manager is able to distinguish the key stakeholders and make sure that they evidently recognize the project scope and main objects of the project (Anderson). Phases of project management Project management basically comprises the phases that independently add to the achievement of a task. These stages are independent but mutually related. Here in the first stage we conduct a detailed analysis the problem situation and device an appropriate solution for that stage. Then we plan for the achievement of our goals. This plan includes the cost and human resource allocation for the project management. Here we also carry out a risk measurement study to find out the potential risks in the project. The quality assurance stage is aimed to assure the quality of the project and determine if the expected results have been achieved. The final stage of the project management involves the analysis of the results accessed for the project implementation to declare the project success or failure (Monk and Wagner). b- Success/Failure Criteria This project is about the implementation of the wireless sensor network at Oman refineries and petrochemicals company LLC (ORPC). This project involves the enhancement of the existing working structure of the Oman refineries. Here we have to establish the new wireless network for the better processing control and management. Here we will require effective management of the overall project implementation. This section is aimed at accessing the success/failure criteria for the overall project implementation. Here we have to establish a better working technology. We have conducted a comparison study regarding the assessment of the better technology implementation. We have got that Wireless Sensor Network is the most effective technology for our project implementation. After the implementation of this technology we will conduct a technological and performance assessment study that provides us a deep insight into the effectiveness of the technology implementation. Here this analytical study will provide us results those will provide a better overview of the technology implementation. We will compare these analytical results to access the expected quality of the new technology. If we will obtain enhanced results then we will declare the project success and in case some difficulties we will ensure the quality of the wireless technology implementation project. If the technology not fits in an enhanced way to provide the better plant and production management then this case was the failure of the project. c- Project Management Systems The project management comprises a lot of principles regarding the systems and procedures. These all principles are aimed at ensuring the effective project completion and management. The main principle we have is regarding the strictly following the time limits of the project. The on time project completion is really indispensable for the project success. The project execution with in the project budget is also a main task in a project success. Here we have to establish a mechanism for the project completion within the project budget. d- Terminating the Project Terminating the Project is also a main task in any project. We have to declare the project success in case of completion of the project. This all involves the analysis of the project deliverable those are according to the established requirements. If these outcomes are according to the establishment requirements then project will be a success. Here we also carry out a quality assurance plan for the appraisal of the main quality and results of the project implementation. Task 2 Organization and People a- Organization Structure In this section I will present the detailed analysis of the Organizational Structure. Here I will present the Matrix diagram for the main project human resource involved in the project execution. Below diagram is an organizational structure that defines the people involved in project and their level in the project implementation. Organisation matrix Now I will present the organizational task responsibility matrix for the overall Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals Company LLC (ORPC) wireless technology implementation activities. Here I will present the main team members name and their responsibilities regarding the project activities. I have accessed these activities from the WBS. Here we will follow the IEEE STD 1058-1998 Guidelines for the overall project control/coordination. We will follow project control aspects regarding this project and execution. Requirements Control In project requirement we will establish pre-project documentation and approval for the all corporate high authorities. This will ensure the limited scope of the project. Here we will also establish a mechanism for the ongoing project requirements changes. This scenario will ensure the on time and within budget project completion. Schedule Control In the project schedule control we will ensure that project should be completed within the allocated time line. We will divide the total project time among all project activities. Then we will ensure that each project activity should be executed within allocated time line. There is also need for the establishment of mechanism to ensure that any delay can be adjusted in the overall time plan. Budget Control In the project budget control we need to establish better project financial plan. This financial plan will ensure the appropriate budget allocation to each project task. Then we will also establish a cost control mechanism for the establishment of proper cost management and usage. Here we also conduct cost reviews and audits for the insurance of proper cost control. Quality Control In the project quality assurance we will conduct periodic project review and analytical study for assessment of the project quality and effectiveness. We will conduct the analytical research for the assessment of the potential benefits gained from this project and their appraisal with the established parameters. This will ensure the project quality and effectiveness. c- Leadership requests This section will provide a deep insight into the required qualities for the project manager and leader for the project. A Project manager has to face the unpredictable working situations that continually insist new competencies. So the project managers have to be keen to discover regarding the newest developments in the area of project management, on the other hand this has not forever been simple to do (Connley et al, 2004). Now I will discuss how a project manger can diminish the risk of the project risk. The main element is the leadership skills, means the project manger should have such skills through which he can motivate others to turn out a visualization and struggle to attain the objectives those are settled at the start of the project (Anderson). Next project manger should have high-quality communication capabilities these will provide him priceless information associated to the project position in an opportune and effectual way (Payne et al, 2004). The project manger should have the capability to deal with the disagreements through the conflict resolution skills: at the bottom of in declaration of some project disputes consequently that the project group associates all sense fraction of the procedure and desire to continue concerned in the project (Connley et al, 2004). The negotiation skills are also imperative for project manger this will assist in the upholding associations by people who are concerned in the project (Anderson). The challenge for project managers is to work out disciplined appearances of project management that are well-organized, diminish project risk, and are elastic and helpful of the individual conditions of more risky projects (Johnson et al, 2005). d- Human Resources and Requirements This project is a technology implementation project in which we require the appropriate establishment of the project quality. For this project we will require the better project human resource management and their requirements fulfillment. The basic need is the outer consultation in this project implementation. Better and onetime availability of the outer technical consultation will ensure the appropriate project development and implementation. Here we also ensure the proper human resource satisfaction through the proper wages and facilities. Task 3 Processes and Procedures a- Project Management Plans This section is about the project management plan development. Here I will elaborate the main project plan tasks and activities. Purpose, Scope, and Objectives This project is about the wireless sensors network technology implementation at Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals Company LLC (ORPC). Here the aim of this project is to enhance the overall production power through the better control management and development of effective motoring system. Project time line The project has to be finish by Easter 2009. Project Deliverables Net wireless sensor network Better communication channel Main control center for the mentoring Project plans Budget reports Workers training Troubleshooting manual Online help Quality assurance report Main Considerations of this project Here we have following main consideration regarding this project: Viability: The system has to be extremely reliable to be suitable for controlling the plant. Suitability: This project has to be compatible with the company requirements. Complexity: The project has to be sufficiently high to meet the HND standards. Compatibility of HND level: The project has to be compatible with HND academic level and unit outcomes. Cost: The project has to be less cost Safety: The system has to be safety International Standard. Project tasks 1a). Establish and record possible project specifications. 1b). Identify the factors that contribute to the process of project selection. 1c). Identify and agree a project for an engineering application. 1d). Prepare project specification and procedures. 2a). Implement the chosen option to meet the agreed specification. 3b). Interpret and justify the results in terms of the original project specification. 4). Hand in the final report. b- Scheduling Techniques, Cost Control Techniques In this section I will present the main cost and schedule control techniques regarding this project. Here we have different techniques those can ensure the on time project completion and management. The periodic reviews and assessments are really significant for this project. Here we will establish a mechanism to ensure the on time completion of each task. The implementation of budgetary audits for the project cost and budget control are really essential. Here will establish the monthly audits of the project budget for the better project budget and cost allocation. c- Performance For the better project performance and assessment I have already defined different quality assurance mechanism for the better project completion and execution. The main quality assurance mechanisms are defined below: Periodic reviews Budgetary audits Performance analysis Results assessment analytical study Perfect testing Quality assurance assessment d- Change Control In the configuration management processes, specify change control procedures, the formation and use of a change control board. Change management is the practices throughout which we can organize the transforms/changes of a system during its development or implementation. Change management saves us from the uncompleted changes during the project execution. For this purpose we set up a pre-defined model or framework for the incorporation of the some or practical changes or modifications in the project (Nickols, 2008). One main sense of the change management is to the formulation of changes in an intended and controlled or methodical way. The main need is to add additional efficiency, put into practice the latest techniques and arrangements in an ongoing project. Though, these inner transforms can have turned on through actions initiating exterior the business, in which is normally expressed as “the atmosphere.” As a result, the succeeding sense of administration transform, particularly, the answer to changes in excess of which the business workout small or no management (for instance public and political disturbance, legislation, the events of opponents, irregular financial tides and present, etc) (Nickols, 2008). Integrated Change Control: This integration process engrosses the evaluating and approving the indispensable change requests. It is related to controlling of the changes to the organizational development assets and deliverables (The Project Integration Management Knowledge Area). This is a necessary step because during the accomplishment and planning period of the project, requirements keep changing but the start-up requirements will always be based on the current knowledge.
